Flattening

When I started my company, I invested in the latest, greatest tech to put to use running it. One of the pieces of gear was one of the first non-plasma flat TVs, an AKAI LCT42Z6TM.

It worked fine on the first few projects contracted, but within the first year of use it began exhibiting signs of failing components. Eventually news was released about bad capacitors coming out of China around the time this TV was made. Inspection of its capacitors revealed no signs of failure or degradation, they weren't even swollen to any noticable degree. Having invested a great deal of money on it, I decided to replace the capacitors in it anyway.

Removing the back and accessing the control board wasn't much trouble, just lots of screws.

Taking my time to carefully extract the capacitors, I managed to get them switched out okay.

With back reattached, it powered up and displayed a perfect picture of my favorite movie.

Switching to another favorite, I left it to play through from beginning to end without pausing.

It exhibited no remaining issues at all from then on over another seven years of frequent use.
