Devilish Data Centers

A recent article in The Texas Tribune reporting of devilry in data centers has set me laughing.

No matter what change comes about, religions are never powerful enough to assuage fears.

Magical thinking always triggers knee-jerk reactions every time something big comes along.

I suspect when the human race began leveraging fire to advantage that religious fears arose.

And it may have persisted until a taste for cooked meats and veggies made life much better.

Being somewhat educated in the sciences, with focus on computer science and mathematics, generative AI is very intrguing and exciting for me. And being unassaibalby optimistic by nature, I anticipate its costs will far outweigh its benefits as it evolves and its implementation mechanisms are refined to minimize negative impacts on environments. Religious reactions are not surprising, and I suspect haughty self-righteousnous will give way to its inevitably positive affects, just as tastes for choice pieces of nicely broiled meats have.
