Stovetop Croutons

I stopped wasting money on store-bought breads a long time ago. Too expensive for such bland product which is as much air as foodstuff. And croutons made from homemade bread beat any sold for way too much money in grocery stores.

Easy to make from leftover loaves, just cube the loaf to desired crouton dimension, coat with a little olive oil, sprinkle with spices as desired (a bit of parmesan is good too), spread out on a cookie sheet, set on top of the wood stove, wait a bit as they crisp up and there they are.

Much more flavorful and far less expensive than any store-bought junk made in some factory by who knows what kind of nasty, unwashed hands and equipment possibly being operated in some distant, unreliable food manufacturing exporter nation like communist China.
