Permian Basin Sunsets

As a teenager, my father would take me out to drill sites in the Permian Basin hoping the sights and sounds and activity might inspire me to get into the business of engineering.

I have to admit that the hubbub of it all was exciting, but I understood the implications of its effects on the environment and really didn't want to make a life of planetary-wide pillaging. I did like the notions of building for a better future, though, and pursued a civil engineering degree until the moment I got my hands on a personal computer and became hooked on it.

No regrets, and while I distain the way we are relentlessly raping the planet for profit, I do recall impressive sunsets over a few Permian Basin rig sites I visited back then with fondness.
