Oak thickets will begin greening soon, bringing back a nice dense shield against prying eyes of the occasional tourist or poacher driving around high backroads in search of thrills or kills.
High aspen on east-facing slopes are beginning to spread their glorious light green tint.
But the aspen along the creek are biding their time, as usual.
Just as those on the south ridge above them still are.
As the lower aspen green, they will provide quaking shields of relief from mounting sun heat.
A favorite spot to eat lunch then nap beside babbling water of the creek until the day cools.
