Glamp The Vote

After the 26th Amendment set up the system which would allow me to, I eagerly went to the polls and voted against that damned peanut farmer who would so thoroughly demonstrate later how inept he was in office as POTUS. And each election cycle thereafter I rocked my voting power to keep liberals at bay as they aggressively pushed their socialistic agendas.

Then the republicans began flexing their fascist muscles to the point now that Trump and Project 2025 closely resembles the Third Reich. Good grief. When will this nation ever achieve a balanced governance even remotely resembling a democracy maximizing our constitutional right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? To what extremes will we go?

Fuck it, is what I frequently hear the voice in my head say when it all becomes too absurd to pay any attention to. And after being egregiously attacked by my own bungling, bumbling government who is still shamefully reluctant to remit full compensation for my losses due to acts of gross incompetence and criminal negligence in the Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon Fire, I feel strong urges to remove myself as far from earshot of the insanity as possible, where it's beautiful and serene to the extreme. That's when I daydream of glamping at high, remote elevations while the rest of the world bangs their hard heads against each other ad nauseum.

Staying there night and day while the gnashing and thrashing convicted felon in the White House howls for attention at every opportunity, exhibiting every aspect of his assholedness.

Ensconced in sweet solitude through every season, removed from society's constant whine.

So far removed that winter stillness is never shattered by any crap anyone else dares to pull.

Where sleep is undisturbed throughout the night, and far into the very next day if so chosen.

I expect nothing will change whether I'm here or there or wherever, as I am just a single vote. But I expect I'll return to the lowlands and vote because it's the only power I have to affect removal of extremists from offices they have managed to glom onto, too afraid to relinquish.
