Eyefare

The new homestead is panning out to be a much more special place than expected. With its rich biome being more than satisfying, and still revealing itself a bit at a time, its lowland views are superbly soothing to eye and mind. Beyond the shaded verge lies its seasonal stream which flowed for more than five months this year. What secrets it will reveal over time are enticing eyefare, so a room with a view has been set up for disruption-free visual access.

More sanctuary than mere bedroom, this alternate sleeping space frames the natural world beyond its large windowpanes, providing high-definition, realtime viewing of the rhythms of the land and its life. Hesitant about over-cluttering this clean, simple area, binoculars and maybe even a microscope kept handy on the cabinet top would not be too much stuff for it.

A place in which to drift off to sleep and to wake slowly, taking in whatever action or lack of action is happening outside as moon or sun rises, watching wildlife emerge from the woodland and then disappear back into shadows beyond, unpreturbed by my presence. Prospect of walking out there later to try to find their tracks in soft earth is fine anticipation.

Dozing after breakfast in bed, light but vivid dreaming allows for another point of view at a higher angle, revealing still more delightful secret places embedded within the homestead.

This homestead parcel established more than 125 years ago after wrenching it from Comancheria control, will do nicely for the next phase of life, possibly stretching out another two or three decades into a future as wide open as any time of its endurance before today.
