Swallowtail Shifts

With Black Swallowtails gone, Yellow Swallowtails have arrived in large numbers. Shouldn't be long now when Sphinx Moths arrive to feed on these blossoms during evening hours, air thrumming with wingbeat of their flight.

A lively thunderstorm with lots of close-striking lightning lumbered over the canyon last night, providing a nice light and sound show and dropping lots of new moisture to keep things green through the second half of July. Weather forecasts indicate monsoon storms will continue building each afternoon through the end of the month to keep wilderness greenery vibrant during August too.
