I've been thinking about establishing a nonprofit organization website called STASHBAND.ORG where independent performing bands and solo performers can list and market their acts, manage their bookings, keep track of band finances, collaborate with other bands and musicians, etc. for free. A sort of automated agent and accountant for a stash of bands.
This is being done in large cities where the demand for live music is greater. Visiting small towns high in the Rockies and various places around the four corners, I've often wished there were more live music venues available for road tripping tourists to enjoy. I came across this at a roadhouse near Mexican Hat, Utah in the late 1990s and throughly enjoyed the band's show. Eliminating cost and bother of band marketing, booking, accounting and collaboration processes may help more bands and solo musicians make more appearances in such venues.
