Lay Of The Land

This is the lay of the land immediately west of here. It's a four mile hike and a 3,000 ft elevation change up canyon to Gascon Point (top center) where the Pecos Wilderness begins. Beyond that boundary one can trek across into Santa Fe if inclined to do something so silly. To the south and north lie more than a million acres of national forestlands. To the east about four miles distant lies the nearest village, a tiny spot without facilities for travelers.

Nearest neighbor is over a mile away and we've only encountered each other a few times, exchanging minimum words of greeting. Visitors are few and far between. An ideal situation.
