This isn't the first grasshopper I've seen this month, having spotted one just like it hopping between snowdrifts out in the center of the meadow one full week ago (Feb 8th). I hope they're a sign of early spring. It's been years since I've enjoyed one here. Today is sunny and temperature is springtime mild–a nice preamble, if not confirmation. When the robins arrive I'll be more convinced, although they came too early last year. They left for a few more weeks then to allow winter one final fling (and a bomb cyclone) before returning for the season.
