Anti-Avarice Power

As a teenager deeply steeped in works of science fiction writers like Asimov, Brin, Clarke, Heinlein, Le Guin, McIntyre and many more, I optimistically expected society to have advanced beyond pointless motivators of avarice still driving the human race to this very day.

Then after working as a professional for a couple of years, announcement by Fleischmann and Pons of a cold fusion breakthrough briefly re-invigorated my optimism as visions of that bountiful clean energy mechanism driving a new kind of economy depicted in Roddenberry's Star Trek series filled my mind, and originally-anticipated goals of living greed-free rekindled.

Notions of living as a member of society keenly focused on reality and its infinite potentials for progress without being bogged down in magical thinking or constrained by superstitions didn't begin to fade until my sixth decade of life commenced. Now into the seventh decade, it's hard imagining humanity ever rising from its self-made quagmire of such banal existence.

Today, AI-driven quantum physics demonstrate potential for advancement in Muon-Catalyzed Fusion, and dreams of having unlimited energy availability from such a power-generating source seem attainable, but what I dream of most is my own home fusion system.

Not out of greedy desire to have energy beyond all requirements, just freedom from commercialized power generation systems always demanding that I spend money to survive.
